Scott Lawrence's work sets the poetic against the practical--against the triple mantra of what is called Progress: description, control, and prediction. As an Everyman, Lawrence manipulates the simple subject matter of his life through careful attention and experimentation. His sculptures, paintings, drawings and video works have been exhibited throughout the US and in Paris, Berlin, Seoul and Vancouver. He has had solo shows at GRIN (Providence) and NurtureArt (Brooklyn), and was part of a two-person show at Take it Easy (Atlanta). In 2021 Lawrence was an artist in residence at the new KinoSaito art space in Verplanck, NY. His work has also been included in the SPRING/BREAK art show, the BHQFU Brucennial, the White Columns Artist Registry, and has appeared in the New York Times, Art Papers, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Originally from Alabama, since 2017 Scott Lawrence has lived in New Haven, Connecticut.
